JOB SUMMARY:

The EHS Family Development Specialist is responsible for planning and scheduling home visits (1.5 hours/per week) encompassing child health, development services and family case management. Low income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers are the target population. Direct supervision is provided by the Family Partnerships Coordinators. Additional support is offered by the Education/Disabilities, Family Services and Community Partnerships Coordinators. Evening activities and family socializations are scheduled.  Opportunities to recruit new families generate referrals and assist families to manage their life is a rewarding aspect of this position.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in social service or human development field;
  • Must have two (2) years Case Management experience or equivalent experience in social service or human development;
  • Ability to manage groups;
  • Ability to make sound professional judgments;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledgeable of computer software and applications;
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job description;

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bilingual Family Development Specialist of PCCEO Head Start will support the Family Development Coordinator with recruitment, coordination and follow up of services for Head Start families including but not limited to: parent engagement activities, personal development, specific health related services and self-sufficiency programming through the provision of services for Head Start parents and their children as required by performance standards and related contents for the Head Start Program.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience in social service or human development field
  • Two (2) years Case Management or equivalent experience in social, human, or family services field

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to facilitate training for staff and parents
  • Ability to manage and supervise groups;
  • Ability to make sound professional judgments;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Proficient office skills in data entry, and the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, PUBLISHER)
  • Must be able to perform the physical duties of the job description;
  • Must have and maintain a valid state of Illinois Drivers license, reliable transportation and insurance coverage as required by the State of Illinois.

  • A degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 6 hours in Child Development or
  • Early Childhood Education experience in teaching preschool children and the State of Illinois-04 certificate or ;
  • A state-awarded certificate for preschool teachers that meets or exceeds the requirements for a child development associate credential;
  • Completion of the CDA credentialing program of the Council for Professional Recognition with a current CDA credential with preschool center base endorsement and;
  • Experience in early childhood education or a related field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Some knowledge of food service operations
  • Maintain proper licenses, permits and training as required by state and local authorities.
  • Secure state certification on all safety laws of the Dept. of Public Health
  • Complete duties as assigned in, maintenance and food service areas
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers
  • Must be at least 19 years of age;
  • Must have a child active in the Head Start/ Early Head Start program

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides planned and regularly scheduled 1.5 hour home visits which includes Hispanic families with infants, toddlers or pregnant women.  Responsibilities also involve the active participation and engagement with families enrolled in ESL classes, prevention and early intervention services, screenings and referral services.   Establishing partnerships to support children who are dual language learners (DLL) for optimal language development is required to promote and ensure school readiness. 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and equivalent work experience in social service or human development field;
  • Competent with professional translation and interpretation
  • Experience working with Hispanic families is highly desirable
  • Maintain a case load of twelve (12) infants and toddlers and their family.
  • Must have two (2) years Case Management experience or equivalent experience in social service or human development field;
  • Ability to manage and supervise groups;
  • Ability to make sound professional judgments;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledgeable  of computer software applications

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a non-exempt part-time position that will provide supervision of classroom educational services for the Early Head Start/Prevention Initiative program in a manner that contributes to positive child outcomes for families with infants and toddlers.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • AA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education; or
  • A degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education with experience in teaching preschool children with infant/toddler coursework and Illinois – 04 certification; or
  • A State awarded certificate for preschool teachers that meets or exceeds the requirements for a child development associate credential; or
  • Completion of the credentialing program of the Infant/Toddler CDA National Credential Award System with center base endorsement; or Gateways Infant/Toddler Credential  Levels 2-5,
  • Skilled and trained to use a variety of observations and assessment tools to understand children, develop appropriate practices, monitor progress and identify concerns.
  • Training, education and experience with children birth to age three.  Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job description.
